
Gonsalvez College, Bolawatta, in the Wennappuwa Education Division of the Chilaw Education Region, made history by securing 1stplace at the All Island level. Not only was this the first time, but last year, Gonsalvez College also won 1st place in the same competition and event, with S. Manoj being the winner.
The achievement came in the Instrumental Solo (Special) – Blowing Instruments (Saxophone Solo) Category of the All Island Schools Music Competition, under the category of schools with fewer than 300 students, organized by the Aesthetic Branch of the Ministry of Education, this year.

Grade 12 student from the Gonsalvez College, Bolawatta, Adeesha Fernando secured 1st at the Zonal Level (Chilaw), Provincial Level (Northwestern) and National Level Competitions in the Instrumental Solo (Special) – Blowing Instruments (Saxophone Solo) category. For this, S. Manoj, Avin Pemodha, Nithini Sanchala, Lasandi Nimduni the accompanied students, were helped through performance.

This accomplishment was made possible by the enthusiasm and talent of the students, combined with the dedicated training and guidance of their Sinhala Language teacher, Mr. Suneth Jayasanka, and the motivation and encouragement provided by the school Principal, Mr. Geeth Fernando.
