Under the framework of SDG Goal 13 – Climate action, with a focus on Target 13.3: improving education, awareness-raising, and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction, and early warning, the project “Green Legacy” was recently launched by NSBM Green University.

The goal of this significant project is to improve environmental education among school communities. A fully functional greenhouse was donated to Pitipana Maha Vidyalaya as part of the project, giving children the chance to participate in experiential learning on climate resilience and sustainable agriculture. The school community and supporters of sustainable development were present when the historic occasion was commemorated on school grounds.
24.2 batch undergraduates from NSBM led the initiative as part of their CREST program, demonstrating their dedication to sustainability, climate action, and community impact. Through this project, Pitipana Maha Vidyalaya students will be able to investigate firsthand how sustainable practices might help create a more resilient and greener future.
With Green Legacy, NSBM continues to lead efforts that integrate social responsibility, academic learning, and international sustainability goals and with NSBM cultivating a vision for a more environmentally friendly future, Sri Lanka is poised to nurture a greener tomorrow.
