Companies must invest in Understanding People whilst investing on brands

The University of Staffordshire ( UK) has launched the first psychology Masters programme of study dedicated to Managers and coaches for skill development and increasing performance in an organization branded “ MSc in Business Psychology” said Dr Rohantha Athukorala Director/ Head of Postgraduate School at Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology ( APIIT), Sri Lanka.

The Course Director Dr Gemma Hurst- Postgraduate Psychology Department, School of Health, Education, Policing and Sciences, University of Staffordshire (UK) met with leading private sector companies, Government officials including the Secretary, University Grants Commission to explain that ‘Companies must invest on understanding people whilst investing on brands and infrastructure’.  It was a very powerful statement given that many Sri Lankan organizations are just recovering from the financial crisis and hence are investing heavily on brand marketing to generate consumer demand as things look positive on the five percent plus GDP growth macro-economic environment commented Dr Athukorala. 

The programe comes under the preview APIIT the long-standing strategic partner in Sri Lanka for over twenty five years and brings together top Industry experts to be the expert faculty said the Chairman APIIT Bandula Egodage. After almost two years of Research and development that we are delighted to launch this new programme in Sri Lanka. As many are aware many senior executives have been under severe psychological pressure due to the organizations been under severe challenge to deliver the top line and bottom line targets at a time when there is absolute disruption at the consumer end. This qualification will help team leaders and coaches to learn the most modern psychological principals and thereby take decisions based on the psyche of a consumer that will increase its impact. The registrations for the first semester were closed due to the strong demand. The next batch applications will open shortly said Dr Athukorala.
