The Western Music Society of Trinity College, Kandy, showcased exceptional talent at the All-Island Western Music and Dance Competition 2025, held in Colombo under the Ministry of Education. The Society earned two National First Places in the Senior Vocal Solo and Junior Piano Solo categories and secured Runners-up positions in both the Junior and Senior Chorale events.
Building on these successes, the Society advanced to the national stage, where their results were equally impressive:
After securing first place provincially, the Junior Chorale moved on to the national competition with a dynamic programme featuring “Welcome Sweet Springtime” by Michael Watson and “Cantamos” by James M. DesJardins. The set piece emphasized clarity and vocal balance, while the choice piece brought lively rhythms and expressive contrasts. Their coordination and tonal quality impressed the judges, earning the Runners-up award.
