Reducing school bag load : New measures announced


The Ministry of Education has announced measures taken to address the health concerns of school students due to heavy textbooks and school bags. 

Issuing a statement, the ministry said the Health Ministry has pointed out damage to the spine due to carrying heavy school bags.

As a result, measures have been taken to print selected school textbooks in batches to reduce the weight of school bags. 

The Education Ministry said school principals have also been advised to ensure that the students bring only the necessary textbooks to school alongside their workbooks.
