Deputy Minister Highlights Plans to Boost State Printing Corporation’s Capacity

Deputy Minister of Education Madhura Senevirathna has revealed plans for the State Printing Corporation (SPC) to expand its share in educational material printing from the current 2% to 20% within this year.

During a recent inspection of the SPC’s main factory, the deputy minister reviewed operations and explored strategies to enhance productivity. The installation of new machinery is expected to significantly increase the corporation’s capacity to produce school materials.

Operating under the Ministry of Education, the SPC plays a vital role in specialized printing, including school textbooks, ministry documents, and university certificates. The deputy minister also noted that upcoming activity books, introduced as part of the new education reforms, will be printed by the SPC.

The government aims to optimise resource utilisation by next year, broaden the corporation’s operations, and improve employee satisfaction. Currently, the SPC handles roughly 40% of government printing, with the remaining 60% managed by the private sector.
