A report on a sustainable energy audit on Nalanda College conducted by the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority on the initiative of Nalanda OBA, was submitted to the college authorities on 18th September 2024
The report analyses the daily electricity demand of the college and details of how to maximise the use of daylight to conserve energy.
It also provides several recommendations to improve awareness of energy conservation and management among both students and teachers alike.
Key officials of Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority – Mr Harsha Wickramasinghe, Deputy Director General (DSM), Mr Sanath Kithsiri, Director (Industrial and Services Sectors), Ms Kalanika Hewage, Deputy Director (Energy Efficiency Improvement) were present on the occasion when the report was presented to the College Principal Mr Iran Champika Silva in the presence of Assistant Principal Mrs. Deepthi Kulathunga, the Teacher in Charge – Mrs. Maheshika Niriella and officials of Nalanda OBA , its Executive President Mr Mohan Gunadasa and project committee chair Dr Jagathdeva Vidanagamage, Dr Sidath Waidyasekara, Mr Chinthaka Ranaweera and Dr Thilak Amarasinghe.
The Principal then handed over the report to the President of the Student Representative Unit – Manul Lakvindu Ranasinghe and the other office bearers.
