Graduates of the BSc in Financial Engineering at the University of Colombo will now be formally recognised with enhanced Associate (ACSI) membership of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).
The official presentation of this recognition is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, at 11.30 a.m., during the visit of CISI Chairman Michael Cole-Fontayn.
According to the university, the initiative will allow graduates to use the internationally recognised ACSI designation, opening doors to opportunities across the global financial services industry. In addition, they will be granted free access to CISI events, enabling knowledge sharing and valuable professional networking.
The recognition also provides a pathway for graduates to progress through the CISI membership hierarchy — from Associate (ACSI) to Member (MCSI), Chartered Member (Chartered MCSI), and ultimately Chartered Fellow (FCSI) status — through continuous learning and advanced qualifications.
“The initiative highlights the University of Colombo’s collaboration with CISI in strengthening academic-industry partnerships, while equipping Sri Lankan finance professionals with the skills, recognition, and global connectivity needed to thrive,” the university said.
A preparatory meeting for the upcoming programme was held last week, attended by University Vice Chancellor Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Upul Sonnadara, Programme Coordinator Professor Sanjeewa Perera, Director of Postgraduate Studies Professor Chandima Tilakaratne, CISI Sri Lanka Country Head Michael Fernandopulle, and CISI National Advisory Council President and Board Trustee Nandika Buddhipala
