Study in New Zealand: University of Waikato to Host Exclusive Roadshow in Colombo on September 23

The University of Waikato, one of New Zealand’s top-ranked universities (ranked among the world’s top 300 in the QS World University Rankings 2026), will host the Waikato Roadshow 2025 at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo, on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

This free-entry event offers Sri Lankan students and parents a unique opportunity to meet academic heads from the University of Waikato, explore degree programmes, learn about scholarships, and receive personalised guidance on studying in New Zealand one of the world’s safest and most progressive education destinations.

Founded in 1964, the University of Waikato has grown from just over 100 students to a thriving international community of 13,000 students from more than 80 countries. The University offers a wide range of globally recognised qualifications across faculties such as Arts, Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Education, Engineering, Health, Law, Psychological and Social Sciences, Science, and the renowned Waikato Management School.

Popular programmes include Engineering, Law, Business, Computer Science, Environmental Science, and Social Sciences, while the University of Waikato College provides foundation, bridging, and English language courses to prepare international students for undergraduate and postgraduate study.

The Waikato Roadshow will feature information sessions and one on one consultations with university academics, offering Sri Lankan students valuable insights into academic programmes, career pathways, and student life in New Zealand. Attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss scholarships and work opportunities available for international students.

The University of Waikato operates two campuses the Hamilton campus, a vibrant hub with modern learning facilities, on-campus accommodation, and student life; and the Tauranga campus, located in the city’s CBD, combining a relaxed lifestyle with world-class study opportunities near beautiful beaches.

The Waikato Management School holds Triple Crown Accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA) — a distinction earned by only 1% of business schools worldwide. The University’s Engineering programmes are accredited by Engineering New Zealand, and the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences is a member of the prestigious iSchools network. Waikato is also ranked in the global top 350 for 11 subjects, including Accounting & Finance, Law, Education, Psychology, and Agriculture & Forestry.

Students benefit from Work Integrated Learning (WIL), a compulsory part of every undergraduate degree, which bridges classroom learning with real world experience through supervised work placements and industry projects.

The University also offers scholarships of up to NZD 15,000, including the Vice Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship for high-achieving undergraduate and postgraduate students. PhD candidates enjoy domestic tuition fees (around NZD 8,000 per year) and additional benefits such as partner work visas and free education for their children.

With a 90% student satisfaction rate, the University of Waikato is recognised for its supportive environment and strong career development services. Students have access to academic support, career guidance, accommodation assistance, and a vibrant student community that promotes personal growth and cultural diversity.

Sri Lankan students who wish to attend the roadshow are encouraged to register through Rivil International Education Consultants, the official representative for the University of Waikato in Sri Lanka.
