SLIIT kicks off 25th Anniversary celebrations, unveiling New Logo and announcing Year-Long festivities

Celebrating a momentous milestone of over two decadesof excellence in education, SLIIT kicked off its 25th Anniversary celebrations,recently unveiling the New Logo and announcing Year-Long festivities.

The memorable event was graced by Prof. Lakshman Ratnayake, Chancellor/Chairman, SLIIT, Prof. Lalith Gamage, Vice Chancellor/CEO, SLIIT, Prof. Nimal Rajapakse, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Provost, SLIIT, along with Deans, Directors, Academics, staff members, and students.

During the occasion, Professor Lakshman Ratnayake, the Chancellor/Chairman of SLIIT, expressed, “Over the past twenty-five years, SLIIT has established itself as a leading higher education institution in Sri Lanka, consistently providing outstanding education and producing graduates highly sought after by employers both locally and internationally. As we commence our 25thanniversary celebrations, I take great pride in being part of this journey. I am confident that SLIIT will continue to reach new milestones and set higher standards in the future.”

At the event, Prof. Lalith Gamage shared the history and journey of SLIIT over the past 25 years, highlighting the institute’s significant milestones and achievements. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Lalith Gamage delivered an inspiring speech that traced SLIIT’s remarkable journey over the past 25 years. He highlighted the institution’s key milestones and achievements, emphasizing how SLIIT grew from humble beginnings to become a leading higher education provider in Sri Lanka. The event also featured the presentation of the anniversary logo, a symbol of SLIIT’s legacy and future. Originally designed by Prof. Lalith Gamage, the logo was modified for the 25thanniversary by Mr. RanjakaKalhara, a lecturer from the SLIIT School of Architecture.

Prof. Lalith Gamage, Vice Chancellor/CEO of SLIIT, added, ” As we celebrate 25 years of SLIIT, we look back on the journey that has brought us to be the number one nonstate higher education institution in Sri Lanka, one that’s recognized globally for our quality education, research profile and strong partnerships. Today, as we unveil our new logo, it represents our renewed commitment to being modern and innovative, showing how our faculties and community are united and moving forward together. Our alumni, who have grown into leaders and innovators, are proof of our mission to transform lives. Looking ahead, we’re excited to grow into new fields like medicine, expand our campuses, and continue giving back to society by bringing more income into Sri Lanka and retaining skilled talent within the country. With our dedicated faculty and staff always supporting our students, we’re ready to lead the next 25 years of learning, innovation, and positive change in Sri Lanka and beyond.”

Adding to this Prof. Gamage spoke about the hard work and determination that have driven SLIIT’s success, especially in overcoming challenges and adapting to changes in the higher education landscape. His message resonated with staff and students, motivating the entire community to continue striving for excellence.

Prof. Samantha Thelijjagoda, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research & International), delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, reflecting on the journey and achievements of SLIIT over the years. The event also included the presentation ofSLIIT Got Talent T-shirts and SLIIT Walk invitations to the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, and Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and& Provost, marking the beginning of a year-long celebration. SLIIT invites the entire community to join in the celebrations as the institute embarks on a year-long series of events to mark this significant milestone.
