Gateway College Students Come Out on Top at Edexcel A/L 2025

Gateway College proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of Tharani Weerawardena and Ilham Irshad, who have both secured an exceptional 5 A Stars each at the Edexcel International Advanced Level Examination 2025.

What makes their success truly remarkable is that their accomplishments go far beyond academics. Both students have been dedicated Prefects and active contributors to co-curricular life at Gateway College – exemplifying the school’s commitment to holistic education that nurtures leadership, character, and versatility alongside academic excellence.

Tharani has distinguished herself not only through her academic brilliance but also as a dynamic leader. She has served as Deputy Head Prefect and Choir Leader, inspiring her peers with her dedication and versatility. Recognizing her exceptional potential, New York University Abu Dhabi has awarded Tharani a 120% scholarship, covering tuition, accommodation, books and supplies, health insurance, transportation, and personal expenses. She will be pursuing her undergraduate studies in Economics and Finance at this world-renowned institution.

Ilham has combined his academic achievements with sporting and leadership excellence. As Captain of Scrabble at Gateway and a member of the National Youth Scrabble Team, he has represented Sri Lanka on the global stage, including at the World Youth Scrabble Championship. In recognition of his remarkable contributions, he was presented with Gateway’s prestigious Golden Eagle Award for outstanding sporting achievement. Ilham has also played an active role in student life as Vice President of the Islamic Society of the school. The success of Tharani and Ilham stands as a testament to the well-rounded education at Gateway College, which fosters intellectual excellence while instilling leadership, teamwork, and a passion for co-curricular pursuits.
