Imperial College of Business Studies Kandy Campus successfully hosted the “Level Up – Kandy” corporate networking event at the prestigious Golden Crown Hotel on August 3, 2024. The event attracted over 100 participants from various corporate sectors, underscoring its significance as a premier platform for professional development and industry networking in the region.
The event was designed to provide professionals with a unique opportunity to enhance their skills, gain valuable industry insights, and engage in meaningful networking with peers and industry experts. By bringing together professionals from diverse industries, the event aimed to foster a collaborative environment where attendees could learn from one another and expand their professional networks.
The evening featured insightful presentations from three esteemed speakers, each a leader in their respective fields. Dr. Niroshan J Pieries, Director/CEO of Laugfs Gas Cluster and Petroleum, delivered an engaging talk on building high-performing teams with a growth mindset and the importance of strategic decision-making. Sampath Thrimavithana, Chairman of the ICT Skills Council and Director of Virtusa, shared his expertise on leveraging data analytics and the role of AI in modern business practices. Chathini Uduwana, Country Head and Vice President People at Typefi Systems, provided valuable insights into managing multigenerational teams and fostering a healthy work-life balance.


Notably, both Dr. Niroshan and Mr. Thrimavithana also serve as visiting lecturers for the master’s degree programs at Imperial College of Business Studies, further enriching the academic environment with their industry experience.

Following the individual presentations, a dynamic panel discussion was held, moderated by Tharindu Wijewardana, Lead Manager of Employer Engagement – MESANA at AICPA and CIMA. The discussion delved into the personal experiences of the speakers, offering attendees deeper insights into the practical applications of the topics covered. The interactive session also featured questions from the audience, making it an engaging and informative experience for all.
Imperial College of Business Studies, a leading business school with over 39 years of excellence, offers globally recognized master’s degree programs in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland and Queen Margaret University. These programs include MBAs in General Management, International Business, Human Resource Management, and Business Analytics, as well as an MSc in Strategic Marketing. During the event, attendees were briefed on these programs, providing them with valuable information to help advance their careers.

The event concluded with a cocktail reception, where participants continued to network and share insights in a more informal setting.
