The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Sri Lanka proudly announces the muchanticipated 8^th Great HR Quiz, set to take place on Wednesday, 29^th January 2025, at Monarch Imperial, Sri Jayewardenepura, from 2:30 p.m. onwards.

Conceptualized by Mr. Rohitha Amarapala, a former president of CIPM, the Great HR Quiz debuted in 2014 and has since become a flagship event in Sri Lanka’s HR fraternity. This year’s edition is expected to be bigger and better, featuring participation from 75 leading organizations.

CIPM President Priyantha Ranasinghe highlighted the objectives of the event, emphasizing its role in enhancing knowledge, skills, and practices in human resource management. “The Great HR Quiz is more than a competition; it’s an opportunity for participants to apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios,” said Mr. Ranasinghe. “The event fosters awareness of contemporary socio-political issues, sports, and emerging industry trends while encouraging HR professionals to stay current and informed.”

Mr. C. Hewapattini, this year’s Quiz Master, described the event as more than just a competition. “The Great HR Quiz is a developmental opportunity for entire organizations. With engaging questions on HR practices, organizational development, current affairs, and emerging trends, it provides a unique blend of learning and professional growth. Participants also get to network with like-minded professionals and enjoy a dynamic, interactive experience,” he stated.

CIPM CEO, Mr. U.A.C. Obeyesekere, expressed his delight at the remarkable response to the 8^th Great HR Quiz, stating, “The enthusiasm from the HR fraternity has been truly overwhelming this year, surpassing previous editions. All team slots were sold out well in advance, reflecting the growing significance and popularity of this flagship event.”

This year’s theme, “HR Rumble” promises a thrilling and intellectually stimulating competition. Participating organizations can nominate up to two teams, with each team comprising four members. Both private and public sector organizations are encouraged to register early, as the event typically reaches full capacity well before the closing date.

To ensure fairness and transparency, the quiz will be conducted as a live table quiz using a digital format. CIPM has appointed independent judges and an impartial panel of question curators to maintain confidentiality and integrity throughout the competition.

Reflecting on last year’s success, Siam City Cement (Lanka) Limited claimed the title of CIPM Great HR Quiz 2023 Champions, with IFS R & D International (Pvt) Ltd and Ansell Lanka securing the 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up trophies, respectively. These achievements underscore the high standards of competition and the recognition that participants earn through their dedication and excellence. The 8^th Great HR Quiz is poised to be a highlight of Sri Lanka’s HR calendar, offering an unparalleled platform for HR professionals to showcase their knowledge, develop skills, and build lasting industry connections.
