Having been among the earliest users of Jolly Phonics in Sri Lanka, with two decades of experience in implementing the world’s leading phonics programme, Gateway is opening a new chapter in its commitment to early childhood and primary education through an official partnership with Jolly Learning, UK.

Used in schools and learning environments around the world, Jolly Phonics provides a structured and engaging approach to helping young children develop strong foundations in reading and writing. Its multi-sensory methodology makes early literacy accessible, interactive and enjoyable.

A Partnership Built Around Quality

The collaboration with Jolly Learning will provide Gateway with access to its methodology, teaching resources, digital tools and professional-development pathways. This will enable Gateway to introduce the programme in Sri Lanka within a structured framework while maintaining high standards of teaching and delivery.

As part of the preparations for introducing the programme in Sri Lanka, members of the Gateway team recently underwent training in Hyderabad, India. The training provided practical exposure to the latest developments in the Jolly Learning methodology and its effective application in the classroom.

Jolly Phonics to be accessible across the Country

From January 2027, Gateway will contribute to the wider delivery of the Jolly Learning programme in Sri Lanka. The programme will be introduced through Gateway’s chain of kindergartens, Seven Cs by Gateway, its activity centres, BigSpark by Gatewayand a network of Jolly Leaning Partners across the country.

Initially, the programme will be available at Gateway centres in Borella, Moratuwa, Athurugiriya, Piliyandala, Nugegoda and Battaramulla, bringing this internationally established approach to early literacy closer to more children and families.

A strong foundation in reading and writing can have a lasting impact on a child’s confidence and progress across every area of learning.
