AUSTRALIA’s newest major university – Adelaide University – has officially launched to the world.

Set to open its doors to students in January 2026, Adelaide University aims totransform global education, research, and innovation at scale, creating a new university for the future.

The co-Vice Chancellors, Professor Peter Høj AC and Professor David Lloyd, say Adelaide University builds on180 years of combined experience delivering teaching and research excellence, through its founding institutions – the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia.
“This contemporary for-purpose university will produce graduates who are sought after by employers, equipped with the skills, experience and attributes to excel in the workplaces of today and tomorrow,” they said.
A dynamic curriculum backed by industry connections
Studying overseas is a big step for international students and their families, and finding quality education and experience is more important than ever.
Adelaide University will offer more than 300 degrees across global areas of demand, including healthcare, construction, business, commerce, information technology, advanced manufacturing and engineering.
The University’scurriculum approach is shaped in partnership with industry, embedded with work-integrated learning. Students will gain knowledge and experience through practicals, tutorials, studios, seminars, clinics and workshops supported by world-class academics. They will also have access to a digitally rich learning environment.
Adelaide University’s curriculum also has distinctive features, with modular and stackable learning, a flexible academic calendar, and common core courses in areas like artificial intelligence, data, and entrepreneurship and design thinking. This will enable students across the institution to select from knowledge areas that will build their professional skills and employability.
