University of Colombo Library Unveils “Colombo Discourses 2025” to Foster Academic Dialogue

The Library of the University of Colombo recently unveiled its landmark initiative, “Colombo Discourses 2025,” reaffirming its dedication to advancing knowledge exchange and fostering intellectual collaboration within the academic community.

The inaugural session, held under the theme “Talk to an Expert,” featured an inspiring address by Vice Chancellor Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake. The event drew the participation of lecturers, students, and professionals, creating a lively atmosphere for conversation and the sharing of innovative ideas.

Colombo Discourses 2025 aspires to cultivate curiosity and critical thinking by encouraging participants to question, discuss, and reflect beyond the boundaries of formal education.

Positioning the library as a “living classroom,” the initiative reimagines its purpose, transforming it from a space for reading and research into a vibrant centre for creativity, collaboration, and academic exploration.

Launched in conjunction with Reading Month 2025, the programme was coordinated by S. M. Adhikari, Senior Assistant Librarian (Reader Services), with the support of the library team. Through this initiative, the University of Colombo Library strengthens its role as a driving force for intellectual development and an essential partner in shaping a forward-thinking scholarly community.
