Chemical Science Education Takes a Leap: Institute of Chemistry Ceylon’s Early Intake Inauguration

The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (IChemC) initiated the early intake for the Bachelor of Science Honors (BSc Hons) degree in Chemical Science and the Graduateship in Chemistry Programme (GIC) on March 25th, 2023. Students were admitted pending results from local advanced level, Edexcel, and Cambridge exams. The inauguration took place at Adamantane House, Rajagiriya.

Prof. Chandani Perera, the esteemed Dean of the College of Chemical Sciences, commenced the proceeding of the event by delivering the welcome address. The inaugural address was eloquently delivered by Prof. Namal Priyantha, President of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon, setting the tone for the event.

Ms. Udesha Bopitiya, Director at LANMIC Polymers (pvt) Ltd, and Business Development Manager at LANMIC group, honored the event as the chief guest, sharing insights from the industry. Dr. Savidya Jayawardena, the Enrollment Coordinator, provided an insightful overview of the curriculum, while also offering concluding remarks to inspire the incoming students.

Finally, adding a touch of celebration, students organized an entertaining event, reflecting the vibrant spirit of academic excellence at the College of Chemical sciences.
