BBA (Hons) – Business Management – SLIIT

Employers prefer graduates with a broad skill set over those with specialized knowledge in today’s fast-paced workplace. This demand is met by SLIIT’s BBA (Hons) in Business Management, which gives students a wide understanding of several business domains, enabling them to be adaptable, employable, and appealing to employers.

This program is fully accredited and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka under the Universities Act. As a testament to its international standing, SLIIT is also a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), the International Association of Universities (IAU), and is working toward AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) membership. These affiliations reflect the institute’s commitment to maintaining globally accepted academic standards and ensuring its graduates are recognized both locally and internationally.

  • Award – BBA (Hons) in Business Management

  • Course Fee – A semester fee of Rs.340,000 will have to be paid to the SLIIT for each semester for the period of four years, to complete the degree in Sri Lanka. Fees for any subsequent semester should be paid prior to the commencement of each semester.

  • Examinations – Weekdays / Weekend

Entry requirements

  • Local A/Ls: Minimum of 3 “S” passes in any stream in one and the same sitting for A/L.

  • Cambridge/Edexcel A/Ls: Minimum of 3 “D” passes in any stream in one and the same sitting for A/L.

  • Applicants should also pass the Aptitude Test conducted by SLIIT.

  • The program will be available upon meeting the minimum student enrollment.

Program Curriculum

The BBA (Hons) in Business Management curriculum at SLIIT is thoughtfully designed to provide students with a well-rounded and practical education in business. Spanning four years, the programme begins with foundational modules such as Principles of Management, Micro and Macroeconomics, Financial Accounting, and Business Communication.

As students progress, they explore core areas like Marketing, Human Resource Management, Operations, Leadership, Business Ethics, and Strategic Management. A strong emphasis is placed on real-world application through courses like Digital Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Crisis Management, and a compulsory Business Internship.

In the final year, students undertake an independent research project, allowing them to apply their knowledge to industry-relevant issues. The curriculum also includes a wide range of electives such as Supply Chain Management, Taxation, Sustainability, International Business, and Diversity in the Workplace, enabling students to tailor their education to match their interests and career goals.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of this program are well-equipped to pursue a wide range of career opportunities across various industries. With a strong foundation in management, finance, marketing, operations, and entrepreneurship, they can take on roles such as Business Development Executive, Management Trainee, Marketing Manager, HR Executive, Financial Analyst, Operations Coordinator, and Business Consultant.

The degree also prepares students for leadership positions in both corporate and public sectors, or to launch their own entrepreneurial ventures. Additionally, those interested in academia or research can further their studies with postgraduate qualifications locally or abroad.
