On December 6, 2024, the Australasian Academy, Sri Lanka’s first fully Australian-owned higher education institution, hosted its annual graduation ceremony at the prestigious Lotus Hall of the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo. The event honored over 100 students who completed programs in Hospitality, Commercial Cookery, and Aged Care.
His Excellency, Mr. Paul Stephens, the Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he commended the graduates for their dedication and emphasized the significance of their achievements in the context of Sri Lanka’s evolving educational landscape.
The Australasian Academy, established in 2018, has been at the forefront of providing Australian-standard education in Sri Lanka. The institution offers a range of programs, including:
Aged Care: Certificate III in Individual Support and Certificate IV in Ageing Support.
Commercial Cookery: Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, and Diploma in Hospitality (Culinary).
Hospitality Management: Certificate III in Hospitality and Diploma in Hospitality.
These programs are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to excel in their respective fields, both locally and internationally.
The graduation ceremony was a testament to the academy’s commitment to academic excellence and its role in shaping the future workforce of Sri Lanka. The presence of distinguished guests, including the Australian High Commissioner, underscored the strong educational ties between Sri Lanka and Australia.
