Lakshman Dissanayake Honoured for Global Impact in Solar Panel Research

Professor Lakshman Dissanayake has been internationally acknowledged for his contributions to solar-panel research. According to a citation analysis conducted by Stanford University in cooperation with Elsevier, he has been ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists.

The findings place him among a select group of distinguished researchers whose work has had significant global influence, a testament to his long-term dedication in condensed matter physics, photovoltaic materials, and solar cell innovation.

Over many years, Professor Dissanayake has led advanced research at National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS), focusing on materials science and solar-cell technologies including dye-sensitized and quantum-dot sensitized solar cells.

His recognition reflects not only his personal achievements but also the rising international profile of Sri Lankan science, demonstrating that high-impact research from Sri Lanka is gaining recognition on the world stage
