Youth Leaders to Explore Democracy at Parliament

As part of the strategic plan of the Election Commission, a group of young representatives recently visited Parliament with the aim of strengthening youth and fortifying representative democracy.

During the visit, the young delegates observed Parliamentary sessions, gaining a deeper understanding of the interconnections between the legislative process and electoral process. This experience allowed them to explore the core values and principles of democracy in practice.

The initiative was jointly organized by the Secretary General of Parliament, Ms. Kushani Rohanadeera and the Commissioner General of Elections, Mr. Saman Sri Rathnayake in collaboration with the Communications Department of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.

The event marked a pivotal step in raising awareness of democratic values among the youth of Sri Lanka.
