AIESEC in University of Kelaniya is set to bring back WAVEZ 2026, its annual environmental conservation initiative, on 19th July 2026 at Wellawatte Beach.
The initiative is expected to bring together over 200 local and international volunteers, united by a shared commitment to protecting Sri Lanka’s coastline and marine ecosystems. The day will commence with an awareness walk from St. Peter’s College, Colombo 4, followed by a large-scale beach cleanup aimed at reducing coastal pollution and raising environmental awareness.
As part of this year’s initiative, WAVEZ 2026 will contribute to the #TrackTheTrash Challenge by supporting a waste audit conducted during the cleanup. Volunteers will help identify, sort, and record the types of litter collected, generating valuable data that contributes to a better understanding of pollution patterns while participating in an engaging, gamified cleanup experience.

To further strengthen the initiative’s environmental impact, all non-biodegradable waste collected during the cleanup will be responsibly diverted for recycling, ensuring that the effort extends far beyond a single day of action.
If you’re passionate about protecting our oceans and creating a cleaner future, this is your opportunity to make a difference. Join as a volunteer and be part of a community of changemakers working together to safeguard Sri Lanka’s coastline.
Together, let’s take action for cleaner beaches, healthier oceans, and a greener Sri Lanka.
