Jinan University Delegation with the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine

A delegation from Jinan University, China, visited the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine on 11 December 2025 under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo. The visit focused on identifying areas for academic and research collaboration, with particular attention to traditional medicine and herbal innovation.

During the discussions, both institutions explored opportunities for capacity building, joint training programs in traditional medical practices, and cooperative work in herbal drug standardization. The dialogue also extended to sustainable utilization of herbal resources, product development, and knowledge transfer related to herbal formulations, key areas that hold potential for impactful research and community health benefits.

The meeting brought together professors and academic representatives from Jinan University along with Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera, Dean of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, heads of departments, and faculty members. Their collective engagement signaled a strong commitment to enhancing academic exchange and fostering innovation within the field.

This collaboration is anticipated to support the faculty’s long-term goals in research advancement, product development, and human capacity strengthening. The event was organized by the International Office of the University.
