BCAS Students Explore Hospitality Excellence at Grand Udawalawe Safari Resort

Students from the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management at BCAS Campus recently embarked on an enriching educational field visit to the Grand Udawalawe Safari Resort, one of Sri Lanka’s most distinctive four-star hotels.

The visit provided students with first-hand exposure to the dynamic operations of a star-class hotel. They explored key areas including:

  • Guest rooms and specialized facilities

  • Food & Beverage operations

  • The commercial kitchen and laundry services

  • Restaurant management and customer service

This immersive experience allowed students to connect classroom theory with real-world practice, gaining valuable insights into the standards and systems that uphold hospitality excellence.

To conclude the day, the group visited the Agro Technology and Tourism Park in Bataatha, where they expanded their knowledge on agrotourism, a fast-emerging sector that blends agriculture with tourism, offering unique opportunities in sustainable hospitality.

A special word of thanks goes to Mr. Chandana (Managing Director) and Mr. Jayasri (Front Office Manager) of Grand Udawalawe Safari Resort, whose warm guidance and industry expertise made the field visit both insightful and memorable.

This initiative highlights BCAS Campus’s holistic approach to education, where students benefit from hands-on industry exposure alongside academic learning. Such opportunities not only enhance subject knowledge but also equip graduates with the confidence and practical skills needed to excel in the competitive hospitality and tourism industry.
