AIESEC in University of Kelaniya Partners with Forest Garden Organics to Cultivate a Greener Tomorrow

AIESEC in University of Kelaniya has launched a meaningful collaboration with Forest Garden Organics through the Green Leaders project, an initiative dedicated to empowering communities to adopt sustainable lifestyles and take action against climate change. With global conversations on environmental preservation growing more urgent, this partnership brings hope, education, and real change to local communities.

Forest Garden Organics, a family-owned organic farm nestled in the lush landscapes of Rambukkana in the Kegalle district, stands as a shining example of sustainable agricultural practice. For four generations, the farm has cultivated vegetables, fruits, herbs, spices, and medicinal plants using natural and organic methods. Their philosophy is simple yet powerful: grow food the way nature intended.

In an era where commercial farming often compromises quality for quantity, Forest Garden Organics remains committed to producing naturally good food. By avoiding harmful pesticides and artificial fertilizers, they preserve the essential nutrients in their crops supporting healthier immune systems, reducing environmental harm, and offering consumers cleaner, safer food. Their farming practices strictly follow the four core principles of organic agriculture: Ecology, Health, Fairness, and Care. From on-site fertilizer production using traditional methods to rigorous quality-control testing, the farm ensures that every product meets high standards of purity and sustainability.

Through the Green Leaders project, AIESEC aims to contribute to SDG Target 13.3 by enhancing climate change education and awareness. With the support of Forest Garden Organics, international volunteers engage in hands-on activities, community programs, and educational sessions that inspire local residents to adopt eco-friendly behaviors. Together, they work towards key outcomes: helping communities shift toward sustainable practices and deepening awareness about the growing threats of climate change.

This collaboration not only strengthens environmental education but also exemplifies how partnerships can ignite meaningful change. By combining youth leadership with organic farming expertise, AIESEC and Forest Garden Organics are cultivating a generation of environmentally conscious leaders committed to protecting the planet.

If your organization is willing to take part in impactful, sustainability-driven projects with international volunteers, feel free to reach out.
