Gateway College has achieved a historic milestone, further cementing its position at the forefront of academic excellence in Sri Lanka. In an extraordinary accomplishment, four of the five national selections for the International Economics Olympiad (IEO) 2026 have been secured by Gateway students — a remarkable testament to the calibre, dedication, and intellectual strength nurtured within the institution.
Nawid Nazar, Ranithu Rishon, and Dylan Pangoda from Gateway College Dehiwala, together with Abdulla Carder from Gateway College Colombo, have been officially selected to represent Sri Lanka at this prestigious global competition, which will be held in China from 12th to 20th July 2026.
The students earned their places through an intensely competitive national selection process conducted by the Sri Lanka Economics Association, facing some of the country’s most academically accomplished young minds. At the Olympiad, they will compete alongside top students from around the world, demonstrating their knowledge and analytical abilities in economics, business, and finance. This outstanding achievement reflects not only the intellectual curiosity and commitment of the students, but also the unwavering dedication of Gateway’s academic staff in fostering excellence beyond the classroom. It is a moment of immense pride for the entire Gateway community and a reaffirmation of the College’s enduring commitment to developing globally minded leaders equipped to shape the future.
