The Department of Examinations has announced its decision regarding the concerns raised over the Science and English papers of the 2023 (2024) G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination held this month.
Commissioner General of Examinations Amith Jayasundara said it has been decided to award 1 mark each as grace marks for questions 9 and 39 in the 1st section of the Science examination paper which were found to be out of the syllabus.
The move comes after concerns were raised over alleged irregularities taking place during the Ordinary Level examination, where certain questions included in the Science examination paper had been out of the syllabus.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner General of Examinations also announced that it was unnecessary to cancel the English examination paper.
The English language question paper of the GCE Ordinary Level Examination which was held last week, was found to have been circulated via WhatsApp during the examination.
Stating that the questions were circulated via WhatsApp for candidates to copy answers, Amith Jayasundara said, however, it did not affect the confidentiality of the English language question paper.
