SLTC CONVOCATION 2025: A DECADE OF EXCELLENCE CELEBRATED WITH PRIDE AND PURPOSE

Sri Lanka Technology Campus (SLTC) marked a major milestone by celebrating its Annual Convocation 2025, coinciding with the completion of its first decade, at the BMICH on Dec. 16.

Held in two sessions, the convocation honoured graduates from engineering, business management, computing and IT, science, technology, music and postgraduate studies, reflecting SLTC’s growth as a leading non-state university focused on technology, innovation and research-led education.

The morning session recognised graduates from the Faculties of Engineering and Business Management. Vice Chancellor Prof. Chandrika N. Wijeyaratne delivered the welcome address, congratulating students and families on the successful completion of rigorous academic programs. The convocation address was delivered by chief guest Mr Manjula De Silva, independent economist and former CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, who urged graduates to value innovation, ethical leadership and continuous learning.

The evening session celebrated graduates from the Faculties of Computing and IT, Science and Technology, Postgraduate Studies and Research, and the Department of Music. The keynote address was delivered by Dr Shanthi Wilson (PhD, Cantab), former Additional Director of Research at the Industrial Technology Institute, who highlighted the importance of research, creativity and evidence-based thinking in solving real-world challenges.

The convocation was held in the presence of Mr Ajith Fernando, Chairman of the Board of Directors, who commended the graduates and reaffirmed SLTC’s vision of producing globally competitive and socially responsible professionals. The event was led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Wijeyaratne, whose academic leadership has guided the university’s expansion in research, academic quality and student development.

As SLTC looks ahead to its second decade, the university said it remains committed to strengthening global collaborations, expanding research capacity and delivering its signature residential, industry-connected “True University Experience” for future generations of students.
