The Department of Medical Education at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, in partnership with the Department of Medical Education at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), USA, held a three-day workshop last week titled “Scholarship, Innovation and Integration of AI for Educational Research.”
This marked the second workshop in the ongoing UIC-UoP partnership, which seeks to strengthen capacity in health professions education and foster joint educational research initiatives.
The event centred on embedding artificial intelligence into educational research, advancing scholarly approaches in medical education, and promoting research collaborations between the two institutions.
The sessions were led by a distinguished faculty team: Prof. Yoon Soo Park, PhD (Ilene Harris Professor, Head of Medical Education); Prof. Ara Tekian, PhD, MHPE (Professor & Associate Dean for International Affairs); Prof. Lauren Maggio, PhD (Professor & Director of Research); and Dr. Brian Gin, MD, PhD (Associate Professor of Medical Education and Paediatrics).
