Training Programs for Principals of Sinhala-Medium Schools at Meepe Teacher Training Centre

Under the new educational reforms, training programs for principals of Sinhala-medium schools are currently being conducted at Meepe Teacher Training Centre. The new educational reforms are set to operate under five key pillars : introducing a new curriculum, developing human resource, improving infrastructure, informing the public and ensuring proper assessment and evaluation. These reforms have been prepared to introduce for grade 1 and 6 students from the year 2026.

The National Institute of Education (NIE) has been the leading figure in formulating the required curricula for general education and ensuring a quality education in Sri Lanka.

Island-wide awareness programmes on these reforms are being carried out at both provincial and district levels for Sinhala-medium school principals and teachers. The ongoing training programme for Sinhala-medium principals, conducted under the Human Resource Development Programme by the Department of Educational Leadership Development and Management of the NIE, is currently taking place at the Meepe Teacher Training Centre.
