The release of the SACE International results on 15 December 2025 marked a moment of celebration across the global SACE community and a particularly proud milestone for Gateway College Colombo. Within a highly competitive international landscape, Gateway’s Class of 2025 delivered results that reflect determination, balance, and a steadfast commitment to holistic education.
The top Gateway College Colombo student achieved an impressive ATAR of 90.25, while all 27 students in the cohort successfully completed the qualification and earned an ATAR marking a 100% completion and success rate. This cohort, the largest SACE group Gateway Colombo has produced to date, recorded strong outcomes, with 70.0% of students achieving an ATAR of 60.00 or higher, 18.0% achieving 80.00 or higher, and 7.0% achieving 90.00 or higher.
Adding to this achievement, while 13 subject merits were awarded internationally, one prestigious subject merit was proudly claimed by a Gateway College Colombo student. Chirantha Senanayake emerged as the top performer with an ATAR of 90.25 and received a subject merit and the High Subject Achievement Award in Business Innovation. Close behind were Nimhara Weerakkodi with an ATAR of 90.02 and Dulansa Thilakrathne with an ATAR of 89.25, secured the High Subject Achievement Award in Economics. Javith Yakupitiya received the High Subject Achievement Award in Digital Communication Solutions. Their accomplishments stand as a testament not only to academic excellence, but also to perseverance, discipline, and focus.
What truly sets this cohort apart is the remarkable breadth of talent beyond the classroom. This was one of the most dynamic and well-rounded batches Gateway College Colombo has produced. The group included competitive basketball players and footballers, karate athletes and a boxer, alongside outstanding performers in drama, committed school prefects, and emerging student leaders. Many represented the school at inter-school, national, and international levels, balancing demanding academic expectations with rigorous training schedules, leadership responsibilities, and co-curricular commitments. Their success reflects the Gateway philosophy of nurturing students who excel not only academically, but also in sports, the arts, and service.

Gateway College Colombo first introduced the SACE International curriculum in 2022 with an inaugural cohort of just 18 students. In a short span of time, the programme has grown steadily in both scale and impact. In 2025, Gateway expanded the SACE International programme to its sister schools, Gateway College Negombo and Gateway College Kandy, marking an important milestone in extending globally recognised academic pathways across the Gateway College network. Students from these campuses who joined through the expansion are now successfully progressing in Stage 2, further strengthening the SACE journey across campuses.
A key strength of the SACE International lies in its balanced and student-centred assessment structure. Internal assessments conducted throughout the course account for 70% of the final grade, while the external examination contributes only 30%, ensuring that student performance is evaluated consistently over time rather than being dependent on a single high-pressure examination. This approach not only rewards sustained effort and deep learning but also supports student wellbeing. SACE International is widely recognised by leading universities across the world, including institutions in Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan. Gateway College graduates are already pursuing higher education successfully across these destinations, reaffirming the global credibility and acceptance of the SACE qualification. Registrations are now open for the new batch of SACE Stage 1 students commencing in January 2026, while Gateway’s fourth cohort of SACE Stage 2 students continues to progress successfully through their SACE journey. Gateway Colleges remain deeply committed to developing globally minded learners who are resilient, versatile, and prepared to thrive in an ever-changing world.
