ESOFT UNI has secured its third consecutive regional recognition from the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO), winning the AI in Education Award 2026 at the ASOCIO Digital & AI Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The latest award recognises ESOFT’s use of artificial intelligence in education, including efforts to enhance learning experiences, improve student outcomes and expand access to quality education through technology.
According to ESOFT, the achievement makes it the only educational institution in Sri Lanka to receive ASOCIO honours for three consecutive years, marking a significant milestone for the organisation and Sri Lanka’s higher education sector.
ESOFT’s run of ASOCIO recognition began in 2024, when it received the EdTech Award in Tokyo, Japan. This was followed by the Talent Development Award in Taiwan in 2025, before securing the AI in Education Award in Jakarta in 2026.
The three-year achievement reflects ESOFT’s growing focus on education technology, artificial intelligence, digital learning and skills development, as technology continues to reshape the way students learn and prepare for the future workplace.

The 2026 recognition is particularly significant as artificial intelligence becomes an increasingly important part of global education. Institutions around the world are exploring how AI can support personalised learning, improve academic delivery and equip students with skills needed in a rapidly changing digital economy.
ESOFT said the recognition was the result of the collective contribution of its students, lecturers, academic partners and staff, who have supported the institution’s continued investment in innovation and technology-driven education.
Dr Dayan Rajapakse, Chairman and Managing Director of the ESOFT Group of Companies, and Amila Bandara, Chief Operating Officer, represented ESOFT at the awards ceremony in Jakarta and received the award on behalf of the organisation.
ASOCIO, established in 1984, brings together national information and communications technology associations from across the Asia-Oceania region and has developed into one of the region’s established ICT industry bodies.
For ESOFT, the latest award adds to a growing record of regional recognition while highlighting the role Sri Lankan education providers can play in the wider conversation around AI-powered education, digital transformation and future-ready learning.
Three consecutive ASOCIO honours also underline a broader shift in education: technology is no longer simply supporting the classroom, but increasingly shaping how students learn, develop skills and prepare for the careers of tomorrow.
