Applications open from 31 August to 30 September 2025 for this one-year diploma, delivered on Saturdays and designed to produce professional translators and interpreters grounded in both theory and practice. Lectures are primarily conducted in Sinhala and English, with Tamil used as needed.
Rooted in Translation Studies, a key branch of Applied Linguistics, the course applies general linguistics to real-world translation challenges and since 1972, the Department of Linguistics has been active in teaching and research in translation, and its alumni serve in both government and private sectors, reflecting the rising demand for translators and interpreters in Sri Lankan society.
