The University of Sri Jayewardenepura recently launched Value Masters 2025, marking Sri Lanka’s first inter-university equity valuation competition. The ceremonial event, held at the university campus, drew a distinguished group of attendees, including academics, finance professionals, and ambitious undergraduates from across the country.
Organized by the Students’ Association of Finance (SAF) within the Finance Department of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC), this competition highlights a growing synergy between academia and industry. It’s backed by two major partners: CFA Society Sri Lanka and Acuity Knowledge Partners, both renowned for fostering excellence in finance education and professional development.
The event opened with a warm welcome from SAF President Rusiru Nishshanka, setting an optimistic and celebratory tone.
Prof. Dushan Jayawickrama, Dean of FMSC, reiterated the faculty’s mission to develop graduates with not just robust theoretical understanding but also cutting-edge practical skills. He emphasized that initiatives like Value Masters are critical in bridging students into the real-world demands of finance and investment.
To further elevate the stakes, the competition offers cash awards of Rs 100,000, Rs 75,000, and Rs 50,000 to the top three teams—underscoring the value of excellence in both performance and analysis.
Value Masters allows undergraduates to have a deeper understanding on equity analysts, strengthening analytical capabilities and valuation skills which is a rare opportunity at this education level.
By partnering with CFA Society Sri Lanka and Acuity Knowledge Partners, students gain insight into real-world finance practices and ethical standards upheld within the industry.
This competition is more than just academic. It is a chance to shine in a competitive landscape and attract the attention of future employers.
By engaging multiple universities, Value Masters can foster innovation and competition across institutions, boosting the overall quality of finance education in Sri Lanka.
