AIESEC in the University of Kelaniya has once again taken a remarkable step toward shaping globally-minded young leaders through its flagship initiative, Project Global Classroom. This year, the organization partnered with Highway International School, Homagama, creating a vibrant space where cultural exchange, language development, and global friendship come together to inspire the next generation.
Highway International School, known for its commitment to nurturing well-rounded students through modern, holistic education, welcomed foreign volunteers with open arms. With state-of-the-art facilities, a forward-thinking curriculum, and a strong focus on creativity and critical thinking, the school provided the perfect environment for this collaborative project to flourish.
Through Global Classroom, foreign university undergraduates from around the world stepped into Sri Lankan classrooms, bringing fresh perspectives, diverse cultures, and innovative teaching methods. Volunteers conducted English language development sessions, led creative activities, facilitated culture-sharing spaces, and supported teachers with everyday school duties. Their presence not only strengthened students’ communication skills but also expanded their worldview helping them grow into confident, inspired global citizens.
AIESEC’s mission of developing youth leadership shone brightly throughout the project. For six weeks, students engaged in interactive learning experiences that aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, an integral focus of AIESEC’s volunteering initiatives..
The partnership between AIESEC in the University of Kelaniya and Highway International School stands as a testament to what can be achieved when education and youth leadership meet with purpose. Together, the two institutions created an inspiring learning environment where local and global perspectives merged, and where every activity helped build bridges between cultures.
If your organization is interested in hosting foreign volunteers and partnering on socially impactful educational projects like this, you are warmly invited to get in touch.
