Top International Schools Unite for TISSL Conference 2025

The International Schools of Sri Lanka (TISSL), the premier association of 23 top international schools in the country, is proud to host its 10th Annual International Conference for School Leaders on the 16th and 17th of May 2025 at the luxurious Anantara Resort in Kalutara. This milestone event is one of the most important gatherings in Sri Lanka’s education calendar and brings together school principals, education consultants, and policy influencers from international, private, and state schools.

Mr. Harshana Perera, Principal – Asian International School

TISSL plays a key role in shaping the future of English medium education in Sri Lanka. The association works to promote excellence in education by encouraging collaboration between schools, building strong leadership among educators, and creating opportunities for students to grow and succeed. With its growing impact, TISSL is now recognized as the voice of international schools in Sri Lanka.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Understanding Education Through Generations.” The event will focus on the challenges and opportunities that school leaders face when managing students and teachers from different age groups and backgrounds. The goal is to help schools become more adaptive, inclusive, and future-ready.

Dr Harsha Alles, Chairman of Gateway Group of Schools

The conference will feature powerful technical sessions led by international education experts. Mr. Stephen Jull, sponsored by Pearson Edexcel, will speak on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can benefit school education. Ms. Jane English, sponsored by the British Council, will discuss how schools can accommodate differences and encourage better collaboration. Ms. Carolyn Tiller, sponsored by Cambridge International Examinations, will present on innovation in teaching methods to improve learning outcomes. Mr. Jamie Kirkaldy, sponsored by Oxford AQA, will focus on student wellbeing and how to create meaningful engagement in schools. Mr. Brad Snell, sponsored by SACE, will introduce alternative methods of assessment that can support student growth in modern classrooms.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Ms. Minakshi Kushwaha, a well-known educator with over 25 years of experience in leadership roles at top international schools. Her talk is expected to inspire school leaders to embrace change and lead with confidence in a rapidly evolving educational world.

Some of the leading international schools that are part of TISSL and are actively involved in this event include British School in Colombo, Colombo International School, Elizabeth Moir School, Gateway College, Lyceum International School, Asian International School, Stafford International School, and The Overseas School of Colombo, among others.
