
The IEEE Student Branch of NSBM proudly celebrated IEEE Day 2025 at NSBM Green University under the theme, “Time Traveling Through Technology & Innovation.” The event was attended by lecturers, professionals and inter-university students, highlighting the spirit of togetherness. The celebration focused on the role of technology in shaping both today’s and tomorrow’s workforce, inspiring participation and growth to embrace creativity, innovation and forward-thinking in the face of rapid digital advancement.
The event was insightful with a panel discussion on “AI Beyond the Hype”, featuring Dr. Rasika Ranaweera, Dr. Chandana Perera, Prof. Chaminda Wijesinghe, and Mr. Hansa Perera who shared principles and values of the realities and possibilities of Artificial Intelligence.
This was followed by a session on “Entrepreneurship in the AI Era” conducted by Mr. Heminda Jayaweera, Executive Director of TRACE Sri Lanka, who encouraged students to embrace innovation and creativity in the digital age.
The celebration also included several parallel track sessions such as Quantum Computing by Mr. Adhisha C. Gammanpila, Data Science & Analytics with AI by Mr. Gimnath Perera, AI & Robotics in Industry 4.0 by Mr. Malinda Sulochana, AI in Cloud Computing by Mr. Hasitha Jayasundara, and AI in Cybersecurity by Mr. Madusanka Mithrananda. The sessions with interactive quizzes as well as prizes awarded to the winners gave participants the unique opportunity to explore game-changing technologies.
