
Swinburne University of Technology has maintained its position among the world’s top 300 universities in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. This achievement underscores Swinburne’s commitment to delivering high-quality education and impactful research.
The THE World University Rankings assess institutions based on teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. Swinburne’s consistent ranking reflects its strong performance across these areas and Swinburne has sustained a high Research Quality score of 91.4 for producing impactful research especially with initiatives like Swinburne Talented Researcher Scheme (STaRS), demonstrating its dedication to producing research that addresses real-world challenges and benefits communities.
Swinburne’s Chief Scientist Professor Virginia Kilborn states, “Maintaining our research quality score shows our ongoing momentum. This result reflects the deep commitment of our researchers to tackling complex global and local challenges. Looking ahead, we’ll continue to build on this, driving innovation that’s bold, collaborative and impactful.”
The rankings include 2,191 institutions from 115 countries and territories, highlighting Swinburne’s competitive standing on the global stage.
