SLIIT leads ‘Future of Artificial Intelligence’with ICAC 2024
The 6th International Conference on Advancements in Computing (ICAC 2024),organized by SLIIT’s Faculty of Computing, under the theme ‘Bridging Horizons for Artificial Intelligence Powered Future’, held from December 12-13, 2024, successfully concluded, bringing together over 120 local and internationalresearchers to discuss advancements in computing.
This year marks the sixth consecutive round of ICAC whichbegan in 2019.The aim of the conferenceis to disseminate knowledge, technological trends, and innovation in the field of computing. The conference featured a series of pre-conference workshops, three eminent keynote speakers, and over 20 technical sessions.
Recognised as a Scopus-indexed conference with an impressive H-index of 14, ICAC 2024 attracted 299 initial submissions from local and international authors across ten cutting-edge computing tracks. After a rigorous double-blind review process involving over 160 experienced reviewers, the conference committee selected 99 groundbreaking papers for presentation.
Distinguished keynote speakers included Prof. William Wong from Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand; Prof. Nalin Arachchilage from RMIT University, Australia; and Dr. Nickson Karie from Curtin University, Australia.
Prof. Nuwan Kodagoda, Pro Vice Chancellor, Faculty of Computing, SLIIT stated, “ICAC 2024 demonstrates SLIIT’s commitment to pioneering research in artificial intelligence and computing. We were successful in bringing together over 120 researchers, presenting 99 significant papers, creating innovation that will shape the future of technology.”
The 10 conference tracks explored were on Advances in generative AI, LLMs and Explainable AI, Autonomous Intelligent Machines & Systems, Agrotechnology, healthcare & assistive technologies, computer vision and natural language processing, sustainable socio-economic systems, secure digital eco systems, educational technologies and interactive designs reflecting significant advances towards enhancing quality of life.

Since its inception in 2019, ICAC has been dedicated to disseminating knowledge, technological trends, and innovation in computing, positioning SLIIT at the forefront of technological research and development.
ICAC 2024 positioned Sri Lanka as a global academic hub, bringing together international researchers to share innovative technological insights.
