UCL Celebrates the Bright Futures of International Foundation Year Graduates

In a momentous celebration of academic achievement, Universal College Lanka (UCL) proudly hosted the graduation ceremony for the UCL International Foundation Year (UIFY) programme at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH). This prestigious event was honored by the presence of Mr. Steven Enderby, Director of UCL, and Ms. Kate Joyce, Director of Cultural Engagement (South Asia) at the British Council, who served as the Chief Guest.

The ceremony brought together delighted parents, esteemed faculty members, and dedicated administrative staff to celebrate the hard work and commitment demonstrated by the graduates throughout the year.

The UIFY programme, awarded by NCC Education UK, is a globally recognized one-year pre-university qualification designed to bridge the gap between students’ existing qualifications and the academic standards required for admission to Bachelor’s degree programmes at international universities.

NCC Education, a leading global awarding body, is well-established in over 50 countries and collaborates with more than 200 partner institutes worldwide. This affiliation ensures that the UIFY programme meets rigorous international standards and provides graduates with a qualification that holds significant merit across the globe.

Completing the UIFY programme opens up a world of opportunities for students. Graduates can seamlessly enter the first year of internal degrees awarded by the University of Central Lancashire (UClan) right at UCL or transfer their credits to some of the top-ranked universities in the UK, Ireland, Canada, the USA, Malaysia, and Australia. This flexibility empowers students to pursue their academic dreams across a variety of prestigious institutions worldwide.

A standout feature of the UIFY programme is its strong emphasis on fostering both academic and interpersonal skills. Graduates are encouraged to engage in critical thinking, effective communication, teamwork, and time management. These competencies not only prepare students for their forthcoming university studies but also empower them to adapt and thrive in diverse environments.

The UIFY programme offers a variety of pathways, allowing students to tailor their educational experiences to align with their future aspirations and chosen fields of study. This flexibility enables students to pursue interests across disciplines—from Computing, Business, Engineering, Sciences and Humanities—ensuring that graduates are not only academically proficient but also personally invested in their future careers.
