The Sri Lankan Government has taken steps to introduce a faster system to recognise university degrees, aiming to help graduates find jobs without long administrative delays.
Under the new plan, the process of accrediting academic qualifications will be made quicker and more efficient. This means that students who complete their university education will not have to wait months for their qualifications to be officially accepted by professional or government institutions.
Authorities say this change will especially benefit graduates in numerous areas where accreditation is required to start working. By speeding up the process, the government hopes to reduce graduate unemployment and make it easier for young professionals to enter the workforce.
The initiative will be carried out with the support of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and other professional bodies to maintain quality and ensure all standards are met.
Officials believe that faster accreditation will also encourage more young people to pursue higher education, knowing that their qualifications will be recognised quickly and valued by employers.
This new effort highlights the government’s broader commitment to improving higher education and employment pathways for Sri Lankan youth.
