
Developing professional competences and practices among teacher educators is the aim of the Master of Teacher Education (MTE) program. Teacher educators employed by the Ministry of Education, university faculties and departments of education, and lecturers affiliated with the National Institute of Education comprise the majority of the MTE’s target demographic. The MTE program consists of a portfolio project in addition to six regular courses. The program’s courses are based on real-world learning situations and are available in Sinhala, Tamil, and English. The minimum duration is one year, divided into two semesters and no final written test will be given for any of the normal courses, and the main learning aids will be multimedia resources, supplemental readings, and required readings.

Teacher educators who work in institutions under the Ministry of Education and in university faculties or departments of education are eligible for the majority of the program’s target audience and the applicants should have the following in order to be eligible for the course.

The programme is conducted in English, Sinhala, and Tamil media but all applicants should have a good command in English, irrespective of the Medium. Selection of candidates for the programme will be done either by a written test or an interview.
