Gateway College proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of Vishwanie Wanniarachchi and Rashmi Mudalige, who played a pivotal role in Sri Lanka’s resounding success at the South Asian Junior Games 2025 held in Thimphu, Bhutan.

The Sri Lanka U17 squad, featuring Vishwanie, began in emphatic style by defeating Pakistan 4-1, with straight set wins from across the board. Vishwanie delivered crucial victories in women’s singles and later partnered with Nethmi Ratnayake to secure the women’s doubles point.
On the final day, Sri Lanka’s shuttlers proved unstoppable, sweeping Nepal 5-0 in all age categories U15, U17, and U23 to seal the championship title. Vishwanie’s consistency in both singles and doubles was instrumental in this clean sweep.
At the U23 level, Gateway’s Rashmi Mudalige played a central role in the team’s triumph. Partnering with Ranithma Liyanage, she secured the women’s doubles victory against Bhutan, setting the tone for Sri Lanka’s commanding performances throughout the category.
The Individual Championships brought even more glory, with both Vishwanie and Rashmi delivering medal-winning performances.
