Grand Opening of SJC Nazareth Centre, Katana


A Vision Translated to Reality by the 14th Rector of St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10.

SJC Nazareth Centre, Katana, as per the vision of the Chief Shepherd and Guardian, Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi, the Rector and Principal of St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, was opened on the 26th of May 2024 . Nazareth was described in the New Testament as the “ Childhood Home of Jesus”. Today, the SJC Nazareth Centre for Spiritual and Leadership Development stands as a symbol of our commitment to a holistic approach to education, underpinned by a powerful Catholic Spirituality. It represents our dedication to fostering an environment where students can develop themselves academically, spiritually and morally. At the SJC Nazareth Centre, they will learn the values for life including love, compassion, integrity and leadership, that will inspire them and strive to excel in their endeavours, thereby becoming “valuable citizens of our Motherland”.

SJC Nazareth Centre is a beacon of hope, where dreams are nurtured and the seeds of implicit faith and astute leadership will grow abundantly and flourish faith. Upon completion of their stay at this sacred centre, they will be blessed and equipped with the strength and wisdom to lead their lives in empathy and justice, embodying the true spirit of St.Joseph’s College.

His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo graced this esteemed Spiritual and Leadership Centre’s opening as the Chief Guest.  

This was formerly a Children’s home run by a Norwegian NGO. After a few years of its inauguration, they abandoned the project and the property was acquired and developed by St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10. It consists of a nice building network and an eight-acre coconut land.
