The University of Colombo recently hosted an awareness session to help its employees better understand the process of completing and submitting tax forms. The programme, held on November 20, 2025 at the Jayarathne Auditorium of the Faculty of Management and Finance, was organised by the university’s Human Resource Development Centre.
Senior officers from the Inland Revenue Department, including a Senior Deputy Commissioner and a Deputy Commissioner, led the session. They explained current tax requirements, demonstrated how to correctly fill out mandatory forms, highlighted common errors, and walked participants through the use of the IRD online services.
Academic, administrative and non academic staff members attended the session and were given the chance to ask questions and receive clarifications directly from IRD officials.
This initiative reflects a joint effort between the Inland Revenue Department and the University of Colombo to improve tax awareness among staff and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
