The official ceremony to hand over school uniform fabric for 2026, donated by the Government of China, was held yesterday (13) at the Colombo Port premises under the patronage of Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.
The fabric was symbolically handed over by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong, to Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, who also serves as Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.
According to the Ministry of Education, approximately 4,418,404 students across the country will be eligible to receive school uniform fabric under this programme for 2026.
Arrangements have been made to distribute the school uniform fabric consignments to zonal education offices islandwide starting from January 19, 2026, the Ministry added.
