CA Sri Lanka’s SAB Campus Celebrates 8th Annual Convocation with 200 Graduates

On December 16, 2024, the School of Accounting and Business (SAB) Campus of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) held its 8th Annual Convocation at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. The ceremony honored 200 graduates who received their Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting degrees, bringing the total number of graduates to 1,500 since the program’s inception in 2013.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewe, Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, and Guest of Honour Prof. Athula Manawaduge, Senior Lecturer at the University of Sri Jayawardenapura. Distinguished attendees included CA Sri Lanka President Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, Vice President Mr. Tishan Subasinghe, Chief Executive Officer Ms. Lakmali Priyanka, and SAB Campus Director Senior Professor Ariyarathna Jayamaha.

In his address, Mr. Kaluwewe praised CA Sri Lanka members for their professionalism and integrity, highlighting the exceptional performance of CA professionals in their roles. He also commended the SAB Campus for its comprehensive approach to education, which evaluates graduates through diverse methods beyond traditional degree awarding.

During the ceremony, 41 special awards were presented to outstanding graduates in recognition of their exceptional academic and extracurricular achievements, underscoring the campus’s commitment to nurturing excellence and innovation in education.

Mr. Kuruppu reaffirmed CA Sri Lanka’s mission to inspire, guide, and empower future leaders who will drive progress both locally and globally. He noted that the SAB Campus is dedicated to offering innovative programs, including a potential bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, to stay aligned with industry trends.

Mr. Subasinghe highlighted the impressive 100% employability rate of SAB graduates, with 40% securing positions overseas in regions such as Australia, the UK, the US, the Middle East, and New Zealand. This achievement reflects the campus’s success in transforming higher education and producing industry-ready graduates.

The SAB Campus, established over a decade ago, is renowned for providing students with a unique experience that extends beyond traditional theoretical knowledge. The campus offers degree programs recognized by the University Grants Commission and approved by the Ministry of Education, featuring built-in internship opportunities that equip undergraduates with valuable real-world experience.
