The Ministry of Education expects to conduct the GCE Advanced Level Examination by September in 2025, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.
The Education Minister said, however, that the examination has been scheduled for November this year.
He further said that steps are being taken to ensure that students who complete their GCE Ordinary Level Examination can complete their Advanced Level Examinations within two years.
As part of this, the Education Ministry has introduced the commencement of Advanced Level classes soon after the completion of the GCE Ordinary Level Examination and prior to the release of results.
The Advanced Level classes will commence this week, soon after the conclusion of the Ordinary Level examination, and will continue after the release of the O/Level exam results, he said.
Minister Premajayantha said that through this system the previous 3-4 months break while awaiting results will be forsaken, enabling students to continue their higher studies and complete their Advanced Level education within the stipulated period of two years.
The Education Minister made the remarks at the ceremony held to honour the top students of the 2023 (2024) GCE Ordinary level Examinations, of which the results were released in May.
