AIESEC in University of Kelaniya Partners with Beacon International School for Project Heartbeat

AIESEC in University of Kelaniya has embarked on a heartwarming and impactful partnership with Beacon International School through the globally recognized Project Heartbeat. This collaboration brings together passionate international volunteers and a school dedicated to nurturing children with special needs, creating an environment where compassion, learning, and positive change blend seamlessly.

Beacon International School, an English-medium institution for children from Preschool to Grade 5, stands as a beacon of hope for students with Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, speech and developmental delays, and other learning differences. With an adapted, activity-based curriculum, the school ensures that every child has the opportunity to learn and grow at a pace that suits their unique abilities.

Through Project Heartbeat, an initiative aligned with SDG Goal 3.4, AIESEC aims to spread awareness on noncommunicable disease (NCD) prevention and promote mental well-being within communities. Volunteers joining Beacon International School take on a meaningful role: planning engaging activities, supporting students individually or in small groups, assisting in subjects such as English, Maths, Environmental Studies, Life Skills, and the Arts, and contributing to school operations. They also conduct personality and leadership development sessions, enriching the lives of students while nurturing their own cultural understanding and leadership skills.

This partnership does more than support a school. It strengthens the community. By encouraging healthy lifestyle practices, sparking conversations around mental health, and providing vulnerable children with individualized attention, the Heartbeat Project continues to inspire healthier, more resilient communities across Sri Lanka.

If your organization is interested in creating similar social impact through projects powered by international volunteers, you are warmly invited to reach out.
