In a small home in Deepthigama, Anuradhapra, live twin brothers, Sasiru and Ramiru, two remarkable young inventors who have created a talking humanoid AI robot.
Sasiru and Ramiru are grade 10 students yet they won 1st place at the All-Island School Robot & Invention Competition 2025 for their outstanding creation.
Their invention is designed as a humanoid AI tourist guide assistant. The twins developed it with the goal of supporting and strengthening Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.
What makes their story truly inspiring is how they brought the robot to life. They have used Python programming and the help of ChatGPT.
By learning through YouTube tutorials and guidance from ChatGPT, they managed to turn their idea into reality.
Sasiru and Ramiru hope to further develop this robot into a fully human-like robot that can walk, talk and assist tourists more effectively.
Behind their success stands a supportive community. Among them, the Most Venerable Chief Prelate of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya played a guiding and encouraging role in helping the brothers achieve their dream.
It is truly inspiring and eye-opening that these two brothers used modern AI tools to bring their invention to life, showcasing exceptional skills and dedication towards invention and creativity, especially at a time when AI tools like ChatGPT are often misunderstood or misused, overshadowing genuine human innovation.
